Class 1 - Earthed (3081)
Earthed lights are modern lights, also known as Class 1 lights. These lights are suitable for all modern housing with earth wiring, from the 1960's onward when earth wiring started to be put into all houses for safety. If you have a house built after the 1960s then this is going to be the type of lighting you will need in all of your fittings as it has an earth wire. Earth wiring started to be put in as a standard to ground the electricity and prevent shocks, the earth wiring sends any excess electricity through the ground so you don't get hurt.
Class 2 - Double Insulated (2243)
Double insulated lights are also known as Class 2 lights, this variety of lights do not require an earth wire. They are most notably used in houses built before or during the 60s in which no earth wiring was put in. For safety and peace of mind if you have one of these older properties then this type of lighting is for you. Double insulated lights feature two layers of insulating material, this covers the live part such as the cables. Therefore, in case of a fault occurring the extra insulation will prevent the fitting from becoming live and thus reduces the risk of an electrical shock. We have a wide range of double insulated class 2 lights available, whether that be class 2 wall lights, class 2 chandeliers we have them all, visit our lighting shop based in the West Midlands
Class 3 - Low Voltage (135)
Low voltage lights are safer than normal lights as they have a lower level of voltage. They use a transformer to convert 240v to 12v. This means it cannot deliver a bad shock to you like normal mains level of voltage can.
